Case study for a house clearance in the Livingston area
Livingston House Clearance Requirements
Our client for this house clearance of a large detached house in Livingston was an estate agent who was in charge of selling the property. The owner had lived in the property with his wife, but she had sadly passed away and he had decided to move out to a small and more easily manageable flat nearby. There were many items that he did not want to keep, so he decided that it was best to arrange a professional house clearance. However, our client made it clear that the owner wanted as many as possible of the possessions to be reused rather than thrown away. We were happy with that, since we always work with the aim of putting as little into landfill as feasible.
Livingston House Clearance Overview
We arrived at the house at 8 a.m. and got started on the kitchen. We removed the fridge, freezer, washing machine and other items such as crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.
Next, we moved into the living room. There was a large collection of various ornaments, many in good condition. We believed we could sell some of these items. The estate agent gave us the go-ahead after consulting his client.
Upstairs, there were two large beds, a huge oak wardrobe and a very large collection of books. We removed all the items in the bedrooms, the hallway and the bathroom, and everything had been cleared by 5.00pm.
Finally, we gave the property a deep clean to leave it in excellent condition, and we handed the keys back to the estate agent at 6.30pm.
Livingston Disposal of Contents
We sold the ornaments from the living room for a reasonable amount. This was used to reduce the cost of the house clearance to the client. Most of the furniture and much of the kitchen equipment was reusable and we donated those items to two local charity shops in Livingston. The books also went to a charity shop.
We recycled a large amount of cardboard and paper waste and some old clothing which was beyond use.
We found some old diaries in a drawer and gave those to the estate agent. He passed them on to his client and they turned out to be diaries that his late wife had kept for many years. He was delighted to have them.
Livingston Client Comments
The estate agent said that they regularly used clearance firms, and because they had been impressed with our service they were going to add us to their list of approved contractors. The elderly gentlemen wrote to us to say how grateful he was that we’d found and preserved the diaries.
